July has been another wonderful month at The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre, filled with fundraising and community support. We are continually amazed by the kindness of our supporters, volunteers and local businesses, all of whom help us continue providing support to people affected by cancer, as well as their family and friends.

Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from the month.

Denny’s Fest Celebrates 10 Years

We were delighted to once again be the chosen charity for Denny’s Fest, which this year celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Held at its new venue, The George Pub and Garden, the festival brought together the local community for a fantastic day of live music, entertainment and fundraising.

We are incredibly grateful to the organisers for choosing to support Pickering once again. Their continued generosity over the past decade has made a real difference to our Centre and the people we support.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this year’s event such a memorable celebration.

A Fantastic Evening at Our Pickering Quiz Night

Last month, we hosted our very own Pickering Quiz Night, and what a brilliant evening it was!

A huge thank you to our wonderful quizmaster, Mick Fitzgerald, and to everyone who joined us for an evening of fun and fundraising. We welcomed 12 teams, enjoyed a delicious ploughman’s supper, held a raffle, and even challenged everyone with a memorable Play-Doh round, where teams had to create a horse and a car!

Thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity, we raised an amazing £1,104 for The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a success. Your support enables us to continue providing care, therapies and a welcoming space for those affected by cancer.

5K Your Way – Move Against Cancer

This month, we were pleased to once again support 5K Your Way – Move Against Cancer, a fantastic community initiative that encourages people living with and beyond cancer, alongside their families, friends and healthcare professionals, to come together and get active.

Whether participants chose to walk, jog or simply cheer others on, it was a wonderful reminder of the positive impact that community, connection and gentle exercise can have on wellbeing.

Thank you to everyone who took part and continues to support one another through this inspiring initiative.

We’re incredibly proud to see Pickering and the work of our dedicated team recognised within the local community.

Thank You to NFU Mutual

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to NFU Mutual and its Agency Giving Fund for their incredibly generous donation of £7,899.

The Agency Giving Fund is an annual national initiative that supports small, frontline charities across the UK, and we are honoured to have been selected as one of this year’s beneficiaries.

This generous donation will help us continue providing emotional support, wellbeing therapies and practical guidance to people affected by cancer, as well as their families and friends.

Thank You, Woodlands Gallery

A heartfelt thank you to Woodlands Gallery for raising £192.54 in support of The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who visited the exhibition, enjoyed the refreshments and helped make this wonderful donation possible.

Community support like this makes such a difference, and we’d like to thank Woodlands Gallery for their continued generosity.

We’d like to thank every volunteer, fundraiser, supporter and visitor who continues to make Pickering such a special place.

Your generosity enables us to continue offering free support, therapies and a welcoming environment for anyone affected by cancer.

We look forward to sharing more news with you next month.
