Wendy has been volunteering with us for around 18 months and first came into contact with Pickering when her husband was one of our visitors.
“I wanted to volunteer and then Polly and Caroline visited my Inner Wheel meeting and the rest, as they say, is history,” says Wendy. “I’m naturally a chatty person and, in the other organisations I belong to, such as my bowls club – I’m usually the person who’ll catch-up with other members or visit somebody who’s stuck at home for any reason.”
She continues: “Pickering is such a welcoming place and there’s always somebody to talk to. As a volunteer, I do find it really rewarding to support our visitors. A new visitor knocked on the door the other day and was feeling very low. But she left with a smile on her face.”
