Polly Taylor, one of the original founders of The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre, and its familiar face for the past 21 years, has retired from the charity.

She explains: “With my 80th birthday drawing near, plus my health right now is not very good, I think it is only fair to call it a day. I need to put all my energy into celebrating my ‘big birthday’ in the summer. I know I will be leaving Pickering in the hands of an amazing team of volunteers at the Centre.”

The trustees say: “Pickering would not be the charity it is today without the years of love and dedication Polly has poured into it. We are very grateful to her and wish Polly a very well-deserved and restful retirement. As Pickering heads towards its 21st birthday, we know the Centre is in the capable hands of Centre Manager, Caroline McGibney and our team of wonderfully-dedicated volunteers. The mission of Pickering remains: To ensure that everyone impacted by cancer in our community has the love, care and support they need.”

This year promises to be an exciting one for The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre, as the charity ‘comes of age’, with some exciting plans set to be revealed on Friday 21 March! Watch this space to find out more!
