Pickering visitor, Leigh, was inspired by Sir Chris Hoy to get back on her bike and tackle another challenge for The Pickering Cancer Drop-In Centre, along with her ‘dream team’, Jez, Joanne and Simon. Sadly, she’s had to step down from this particular challenge but has found a new team member. Leigh takes up the story:

“Sadly, due to upcoming surgery, I won’t be able to ride alongside them as planned. I’m heartbroken to miss out on this journey after putting so much into it. But there’s hope in the form of a hero! Our superstar, Ben has generously stepped in to ride in my place. I couldn’t be more grateful to him for carrying the torch (and the pedals!) forward for me.”

The challenge is set to take place on Sunday 7 September, starting and finishing at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome in Glasgow. The Tour de 4 team is tackling the most challenging route of 56 miles and 3,770ft elevation. The main climb includes the legendary Tak, starting at 25km and rising to 270m in just under 5km, peaking a top gradient of 9.4%!
